Beyond the Bed - Understanding Shelter Services (Virtual Lunch & Learn)
Beyond the Bed - Understanding Shelter Services (Virtual Lunch & Learn)
Join Birchway Niagara for our next Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, September 16 at noon as we explore how emergency shelter provides the first steps toward safety, stability and healing for survivors of abuse.
This virtual session will feature our Residential Case Supervisor, Leslee, who will provide an inside look at the supports available to women and children during their stay in shelter. Participants will learn how compassionate, trauma-informed services help survivors begin rebuilding their lives, including:
• Creating personalized safety plans and receiving crisis support
• Accessing advocacy, information and referrals to community resources
• Setting goals and developing plans for the next steps in their journey
• Supporting children and families as they begin to heal
• Building the confidence, stability and connections needed to move forward
The session will also include a virtual tour highlighting some of the shelter's accessible features, explore the role Birchway Niagara's volunteer program plays in supporting survivors, and highlight community partnerships, such as REACH Niagara, that help strengthen the support available to clients.
